NY won’t cover COVID-related unemployment money when fed programs end: Hochul

New York will not pay to extend COVID-19 unemployment benefits for the 1.6 million state residents receiving them when the related federal programs expire at the end of Sunday, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.

An additional $300 in COVID support per week paid out by the feds to all unemployment recipients also expires at midnight Sunday, THE CITY said.

Unemployment stood at 7.6 percent statewide in July and 10.5 percent in New York City, according to the state Department of Labor.

Good. Force these lazy slackers back to work.
Anyone legit should still receive assistance.

I’m curious to see what happens in regards to child care once the unemployment money ends. I think that may be the next issue that comes up.

All I know is Im done with the Democratic Party. Going to the DMV and becoming Republican. If this doesnt put the nail in the coffin of that party for any working Democrat, I dont know what would.

Yeah, their ending your benefits on a State level, and it looks like ending your other rights as a worker on a Federal level. They got to go!

If they’re home on UEI, they didn’t need child care.
If they’re back to work, then they’re back to their previous childcare arrangements, whatever they may have been.

So ending benefits you associate with Democrats rather than Republicans?

I don’t agree with, or believe in any government assistance aka “socialism”.
Government should stick to national security and protecting our borders. End of story.
But it’s not how things are. It is what it is and will probably never step back.
That said, these programs and assistance are here. They are *supposedly* for those in need, not for lazy useless slackers gaming the system.

Who is the Governor of NYS whos Top Themes are Multilateralism, Authoritarian, Big Government, Collectivism? What party does she currently represent?

Who is the President of the United States? What party does he represent?

What party did I just tonight opt out of?

DEMOCRATS, yes, Democrats.

^^^jonbenson, I will soon be a typical Republican reaction.

At least they arent kissing the backside of every dictatorship on the planet and trying to shovel money out to states that dont need it, nor trying to totally destroy unions.

DEMOCRATS - THEY GOT TO GO!
