My husband recently brought to my attention that he is unhappy with his life. Never wanted to be a family man, never wanted kids and really doesn’t show interest in working on marriage. He has emotionally cheated and maybe physically cheated not sure with given evidence. He openly said he liked another girl. I think the financial stress and raising kids has put a damp on willingness to try for our marriage and he says we don’t connect with the lack of his effort in connecting .I asked him what he wanted and he said he didn’t know but shows no sign of wanting to sign. He hasn’t mentioned words of separation or divorce and still comes home. But he does say things like he doesn’t want this anymore . He doesn’t want couples therapy but his responses are confusing .What should I do? Should I lawyer up? What are the NY laws. We both work and make about the same, own a house together and have two little kids ….

You definitely should lawyer up. Only you know if he’s really checked out. It may hurt and i think you should look into therapy because you would need to grieve this. It’s so unfortunate you put your all into a man and he emotionally check out. It could get ugly tho as far as the kids go, good luck girl.

You can get an uncontested divorce in NYS for only a couple of hundred in fees. Most US marriages either end in divorce or some kind of accommodation is made. Child custody and support is the big sticking point in divorce negotiations.

This is true. My ex wife and I were able to come to a mutual agreement and complete the whole process without lawyers. Read up on child support laws and how that works. Come up with a reasonable agreement for how the children will be supported and how their time will be spent between the two of you. It’s an awful situation to be in but in can be slightly less awful if you can get through it without bankrupting each other.

he likes another women, you should just let him date his other woman, and you find another man, and just have our fun that way. you have kids to raise they come first.

now your going to ruin your childhoods because they will have to choose who they want to live with and make new friends when they move.

they might not be as popular in their new school, they might even get bullied. Next thing you know they are hard core drugs, all because you made the wrong choice...

think of the children....nobody ever does...
