Correction, Stony Brook is on Long Island. So, It is really 6 Upstate NY colleges in the top 100. There were a few not too far outside of the top 100 as well.
As I read the list, there are 5 "Upstate NY Colleges" in the top 100 for "National Universities": Cornell, RPI, Syracuse, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Buffalo. Did I miss one? As noted, SUNY Stony Brook is on Long Island, while there are 4 of the top 100 "National Universities" in New York City - namely, Columbia, NYU, Fordham, and Yeshiva.
Vassar and Colgate are not ranked as "National Universities", but are instead ranked with the "National Liberal Arts Colleges." They are both in the top 100 on that list, along with Hamilton (which scored higher than either), and also Skidmore, St. Lawrence University, and Bard College.

This college next to Syracuse University was just outside of the top 100 and came in 117th place tied with RIT: https://www.esf.edu/
My brother got his Bachelor's and Master's from ESF. He's worked for the DEC-Region 5 in Ray Brook since 1997.
He also took a few semesters at SU. His youngest son is majoring in civil engineering at SU and is on the football team. It was such a pleasure watching them crush SUNY Albany today!
