As I took my mail out this past Friday, there was a envelope with the return address of:
New York State
Department of taxation and Finance
Income tax

I opened it and it was a check to me.
Inside it stated:

Govenor Hochul and the NYS legislature are providing you this homeowner tax rebate check, to help pay property taxes.

so, yay for me.
I own a co-op and also receive the STAR benefits yearly as well.

Did anyone else receive this?
I wasn't even aware that I was even getting one?
I knew nothing of this at all.

Did I miss the memo anywhere? I hadn't heard of anyone getting that.

Got it too. I’m waiting for the next one telling me it was a mistake and they want it back.

They'll get it back next year when they raise our tax rates again.

I thought the same thing. I have a coop and building management sends us a letter every year reminding us of the STAR credit which is applied for us. I thought it was strange that I was getting this check in the mail and of course thought, well trying to buy votes. Reread the letter that came with the check and on the upper right hand corner it says 2022 Homeowner Tax Rebate.

No announcement that this was going to out in the mail. Or I am wrong in saying this?

It's funny how blatant the attempted vote buying is.

So they give you back some of the money they overtaxed you, and you are happy?

It’s like being mugged but being happy the mugger left you $20 for cab fare.
