My husband is getting transfer from work to their offices in Manhattan. We have a 13 yr old boy and I want a good, safe environment for him in school. He’s being all his life in private school, but Manhattan private schools are way too expensive. Can someone tell me where we can move, that the commute to my husband work is relatively short and has a great high school?
To the Financial district, you can reasonably commute from Northern New Jersey, or even Rockland County, NY. There are a number of good school districts and neighborhoods to choose from. I don't know New Jersey well. But for Rockland, for example, you can take the train from Suffern to Hoboken (45-50 minutes), and then the Path/Ferry to the Financial district. (another 15 minutes)

Hi,
I found this webpage very helpful as looking into pubic schools myself as a newcomer from Denmark: www.maps.nycboe.org (zoning addres info.) and in combiation with www.schooldigger.com or www.insideschools.com I´ve found a great school now
Good luck
Rockland and Orange counties make for MISERABLE commutes to the Financial District. There's no easy way to get to Manhattan without at least one change (bus to train, etc). And then, in Manhattan, there's another subway ride. I would suggest looking in New Jersey.
