I have been to a number of parks in NY. But my top nature parks are still Letchworth, Niagara Falls, Allegheny, and Old Forge.

I'm with you all on this one. Letchworth rules. My dad grew up in Mt. Morris (at the beginning of the park) and we had relatives living in Dansville to the South. As a kid we went there every year. I haven't been able to visit since the late 90's. My dad passed away and now so did my relatives in Dansville, and all of my dad's friends living in that area. I have so many very fond memories of that area. I can tell you this, I now live out West in the Rocky Mountain area and frankly as magnificent as the West is, Letchworth Park STILL is at the top of my list of wonderful places to be. Frankly Watkins Glen ain't half bad either. Both are indeed a photographers paradise. I only wish I was more into that when I traveled that way. I am now but my dad shot so much of the parks back in the day. I think those areas were even MORE pristine in the 60's through the 90's. Stony Brook State Park is a sweet small park with waterfalls as well down outside of Dansville. Nice to see there are others that appreciate such a wonderful place

My friends and I stayed at the Glen Iris Inn this past summer in the park. We had a great time. Seeing the shadow of a long freight train pass on the bridge way up in the sky above the third falls by the light of the moon was an amazing sight. As was crossing the gorge on the stone bridge below the first falls and standing in the shower of water coming off the cliffs on the opposite side. As was seeing the middle falls lit up at night from the pavillion in front of the Glen Iris.

The Grand Canyon will blow your mind. It is truly something amazing. Letchworth has its own subtle charms.

On a smaller scale, we've always liked Stoneybrook State Park
