Here is an interesting article from 1976 about the Parkway Gardens neighborhood in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County. It also mentions neighborhoods such as Glenwood Lake and Rochelle Park in New Rochelle, Junior Lake in Yorktown and Waterbury Manor in Cortlandt, all also in Westchester County, that at the time(and even now for the most part) have a substantial to high black middle class presence.
In terms of the bolded neighborhood, here are a couple of videos which touch on its history of being a neighborhood that welcomed black middle class residents decades ago and has had transitions in the cultural background of its residents: https://youtube.com/watch?v=OzHD8O2XPog&feature=share
It is just outside of Peekskill and is located in the Lakeland SD. I believe it is zoned for Walter Panas HS. It is currently the northern Westchester County neighborhood is a pretty integrated community. Some more related information.
Also, this video from in the beginning actually takes place in a classroom at a school in the Greenburgh Central SD(aka Greenburgh-Hartsdale 7, as noted at the end of the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXn-Fm6cn9s
That is one of the 2 school districts children from the Parkway Gardens/Homes neighborhood is zoned for(Valhalla is the other school district).
