Women Shelter (New York, York: place to live, car, areas)

Has anyone stayed at the New York women's shelter before? If so, advice on what to expect. I am in need of a place to live do to job loss, apt loss and car loss. After 3/1/14 I will be in need for help. A home, job. Anyone with knowledge of shelters in the areas please let me know and what to expect. Thanks

Are you sure you wanted to post in the New York STATE forum, as opposed to the New York CITY forum?

I don't think you'll find people familiar with the shelter, but it would help if you were as specific as possible. My impression is that NYC has more avenues for women than a lot of places. Perhaps it would help if you listed places that you've checked so far. Similarly, although I doubt anyone will step forward here to offer you a job, it would help if you were more specific, describing what you can do or what you're looking for.
