I've always wondered how many people in NYC actually care about the Yankees/Mets other than their hats and clothing.

-37.1% of the city is foreign born.
-7.2% are natural born citizens from somewhere outside of the Tri-State area.

From a map I've seen, Yankees have more fans in literally every New York county, even Queens

Before last year I have never seen a person in Mets gear. Now I always see people in Mets gear. The Yankees are still king, but either fair weather Yankees fans are switching to the Mets or Mets fans have come out of hibernation.

This has to be a gross overstatement. I have routinely seen people in Mets gear my whole life. Is there an uptick when they do well? Yes. But not much.
