Why do people like dogs/puppies and not babies....
there are more recipes using dogmeat.
In some cultures, dogmeat is a delicacy. So some people prefer dogs over babies because
it's okay to cook a dog. Of course, in America we don't ever do that sort of thing, but it
does happen elsewhere.
I think they are avoiding the responsability, the cost and everything that comes up with the raising of the kid. For me taking care of a kid it's a really job and it demanding. I take pleasure in doing that because it my choice.
Just like me! I keep waiting for the "mothering gene" to kick in, but I have zero desire to love on babies. .
It's interesting. I am like you. I have never been an "Aw, baby cute!" person. If I liked a kid, it was usually because I was very close to their parents and felt emotions as loving a part of them. And they had to be well-behaved. I enjoy caring for others, but not in a mothering way.
However, with our own kid...yeah, I really dig my own kid. It's different when it's your own kid. Even if you rolled your eyes at every other baby on the planet (which I pretty much did - especially if they were crying - holy snikey, that is nails on a chalkboard to me), your own kid will grab a part of you.
I know how to play with a dog, and feel comfortable around most animals. I feel awkward around kids and don't relate to them well. I just don't really know how to talk to them. I never had any younger siblings, which may have something to do with it, but even as a kid I didn't babysit or anything like that. Some people are just wired differently than others.
