I straight-up hate chatting on the phone. I'll do anything to avoid it and very rarely pick it up when it rings. There's something about it that feels like someone is standing next to me running their nails on a chalkboard.

I think part of it is that I don't like to sit still and do one thing, yet I find my concentration slips if I try to multitask while on the phone.

Long ago I (briefly) dated someone who wanted to talk every night and commented that I 'wasn't good on the phone' because I couldn't carry on a long (boring) conversation. That other day someone commented that they couldn't be with someone who didn't want to talk every night if they were separated. That idea of that honestly makes my skin crawl.

I also hate it with my family and will NOT talk to my sister on the phone because she always insists on an hour long conversation even if I tell her I need to keep things short.

So...love it or hate it?

Spent 35 years in a job where I had to use the phone for business conversations and HATE it. I only like quick info providing phone conversations.

Default Don't like it

Even as a woman and former teenage girl, I have always hated talking on the telephone.

I remember a boy I liked in high school and he called when I was working on some really difficult homework. We only talked a short time, because I needed to get off the phone and try to finish it and I told him that. He said later that he was hurt because I didn't want to talk to him and he felt rebuffed! He told me he asked "What are you doing?" and most girls replied, "Talking to yoooou." But I said "I'm trying to do this stupid algebra." Gag--I've never been "flirty" that way--I try to be polite, but if I'm busy I'll tell you!! Oh, well--I've decided I don't understand the male ego and probably never will.

I absolutely hate it. I also hate seeing people talking on the phone in a public place. Especially in a store line for example. To go even further, I hate the sound of a ringing phone. I have my phone set up where it just makes a quiet beep when I get a call or text. HATE ringtones.

I actually enjoy phone conversations with friends, family, or whoever I'm dating.

The only times I do not enjoy it is when I'm kind of busy and someone just keeps going on and on...lol

For me it depends on who I'm talking to. I prefer face to face conversations though.

I used to enjoy the phone until I spent 6.5 years working in sales and customer support. Now I dread it when the phone rings! I know it's going to be one of my parents (or just a telemarketer) but I still get that sick feeling. I also find phone conversations very superficial. It's so much easier to talk face to face with someone.

Pretty much hate it. I do have a couple of good friends who live out of town and like to talk to them occasionally. But for the most part, I'd rather not.

Hate it. I spend a fair amount of time on the phone for my work. I don't want to then continue that in my personal life. My irritation with phone calls has increased exponentially with the rise of cell phones and now hands-free phones in cars. "Wait? What was that? I can't hear you. Are your windows open? You're breaking up. Hello? HELLO? HELLO?!?!"
