No. But I speak of my BIL's wife as "my sister-in-law" anyway. It's just easier, and I have yet to run into a situation where it causes confusion.

Good answer. In a non-verbal situation (rare, I know) or a situation where details aren't important you can just say "in-law"

But isn't that a different set if relationships that the original? This is from the OP.

my sister-Judy
her hubby Jim
his sister Julie
Is Julie my sister in law?

If you are talking about a BIL's wife, wouldn't it go more like this?

Your Husband- Bob
Husband's brother- Jim (your BIL)
Jim's wife- Julie

In this case, I would say that Julie is your sister in law. That's why I refer to my wife's sister and her husband as my brother and sister in law, or him as my brother in law.
