Well...most people I see use a cell phone to communicate with, you know, texting and all?
If you go that route you've already got it beat.
If you're "in person" just be illusive, and don't look anyone in the face...head down.
If you did that for awhile, whoever you converse with regularly would get the message that you are either very shy, or very private.
If somebody wants to remain private, then how does one stop others from reading their emotions/thoughts?
You can't. People are naturally interested in other people and it's fun to try to figure out what's going on in someone else's head. They might be completely off-base in their readings, but they'll do it anyway.

Got me....I seem to pick up on peoples' emotions no matter what they, or I are doing- it's almost like it jumps off of them and into the air- go figure.
However, if you want to maintain privacy, you can treat interactions and conflict resolution with the professional demeanor you would at work: By remaining calm, speaking in a well-modulated voice, and refraining from profanity or excessive gesturing.
We are all entitled to moods, and sometimes, when one is feeling an intense mood, others will pick up on it no matter what. When they question or comment on it, just say, "Thank you so much for your concern. I appreciate it. But I will be okay." And move on.
