Though if anything, in random occasions I have been called 'darl'.

It doesn't bother me at all. I do it myself sometimes and don't think its offensive, but I'm old and may be out of touch.

I've had waitresses and cashiers young enough to be my granddaughter call me that. No big deal.

They could be calling you a lot worse!
