Yes we both left Thursday morning after she woke up in a vile mood and was complaining then called me a *****. Also claims she is almost the same age as I am.....she is 79 and I'm 43???? It was very odd because we were having a decent time Sunday through Wednesday night and then it was like WTF???
Sounds like your S.O. is scared of his mom. I say Break up with him before it's too late!
Breakup with him because he is struggling to balance dealing with his mom and SO? You do realize that respecting your parent in spite an obvious flaw in them is a noble act. I actually think storm should be more understanding considering the situation will last for just one bloody week out of the year. She is making a bad situation worse by letting comments made by the mother bother her and probably telling her SO.
Personally, if I love the person,I'd just put on an act and go with the flow. It's one freaking week. Silence the old wretch and maintain a peaceful visit. When we get back home then tell my SO that will be my last trip out there. Simple.

Ah. I'd say there's a good chance the poor lady suffers from some undiagnosed mental illness, and probably has for quite some time. She has my sympathy. I'm guessing there's no chance of getting her to seek treatment? Sad.
