I don't know if it is maybe something I wear? But I always seem to be a target of people shouting derogatory remarks out their window while I walk. This literally happens to me every damn time I go for any sort of exercise. I always find it slightly ironic how the people shouting out the window are around 20 stone.

Of all the miles that I have driven I have never felt the urge to roll down the window and start shouting at runners/joggers.. I seriously don't see how funny this is.

You must look abnormal or run in the ghetto or hinder cars.

Can you provide more information?

Are you male? Female? Big boobs bouncing? Massive butt? Funny running style? Funny looking clothes? Limpy-limpy running style?

No I live in a rural area, i'm just a normal 19 year old male out walking for exercise and usually a group of teens shout out the window/make faces. It doesn't happen everytime but it does happen every week.

Are walking/running in the road? Maybe you are in their way, or maybe it's just a group of teens who yell at everyone just because they are bored or something. Without knowing what they are actually saying to you, it's hard to speculate.

Are you doing the Richard Simmons way of speed walking with your hips grinding from side to side and your feet rolling? Are you wearing tight glossy pants that show your peanuts?

Then I wouldn't take it personally. They are probably just bored teenagers. In a rural area, there is not a lot for them to do. Even though it feels like you are a target, it's probably more that you are the only one there walking. If other people in the area walked, they would probably get yelled at too. I lived in a rural area, and it was rare to see someone out walking. Put in your earbuds and enjoy your walk.

DH and I were recently at a popular beachfront area in our city, the beach being an area often frequented by teens. Walking down the sidewalk and a car full of teen boys went by, yelled something at us. Not sure what they said. A few seconds later we heard them honk and yell at someone else. Sometimes there is no explanation for these kind of things; that is, beyond the fact teenagers are sometimes obnoxious and especially in groups. Many moons ago I was a teenager and pretty quiet while alone, pretty obnoxious around friends.

Ignore it and before too long they'll move on to someone they can get a reaction out of. If you yell back or give them the one finger salute, they'll be more than happy to keep being obnoxious. Just my .02.
