...I'm a rookie at the bar scenes. So still catching up on whats cool and what's not. So I went to see the fight yesterday and there was one other guy (total stranger) there at a stretched table in the center. You know, it's one of those really long tables that runs wall to wall. So we sit on opposite sides and start chatting up about the fight. The chips and salsa he orders gets there and he offers me some. I casually said "no I'm good"
So in this situation is it ok to decline food from this guy you'd been chatting with for a while? Although the decision was natural it felt really awkward? Please feel free to weigh in on this as I'm taking the education from everywhere I can get it.
He was just being polite since it was the type of food you can share. I doubt he would have offered you a bite of his burger had he ordered one. Declining the offer is not rude.
I generally don't accept food from strangers and friends alike, so, no, I don't think you were rude (most importantly, you didn't decline in a rude manner).
He was probably just trying to be polite and was secretly relieved that he didn't have to share.
