...I'm a rookie at the bar scenes. So still catching up on whats cool and what's not. So I went to see the fight yesterday and there was one other guy (total stranger) there at a stretched table in the center. You know, it's one of those really long tables that runs wall to wall. So we sit on opposite sides and start chatting up about the fight. The chips and salsa he orders gets there and he offers me some. I casually said "no I'm good"
So in this situation is it ok to decline food from this guy you'd been chatting with for a while? Although the decision was natural it felt really awkward? Please feel free to weigh in on this as I'm taking the education from everywhere I can get it.

It sounds like you are a rookie in general, bar scene or not. Bar scenes are no different than any other aspect of life when it comes to the question at hand. Are you required to eat popcorn proffered you at a movie or any other type of food anywhere else?
Would you feel awkward turning down a beer if he offered one?
It's your mouth and gut; put in it what you want when you want.

You cannot be that socially awkward. Relax and don't sweat the small stuff.
Heck, he was taking a risk offering you the snack. I once ordered a calamari appetizer when having dinner with a group of people and when I told the person on my right (who didn't have an appetizer) that he was welcome to a couple of pieces until his dinner came, he proceeded to wolf down the entire plate.
There is nothing wrong with saying "Thanks, but I'm fine."
