Like when I was in Kindergarten, my teacher used to get mad if someone did something like an art project the wrong way. Well, it seemed mean when I was in Kindergarten. I always behaved well, but I remember she got really angry when I glued something in the wrong place on accident on an art project (Which is what we always did in Kindergarten) Ironically though, I still liked her and missed being in her class in first grade. What are your thoughts?

Thoughts are: kids love a$$ holes all the time. They love their kinder teacher. Your kinder teacher was an a$$ hole.

"Do you think its mean when teachers get mad at you for doing the wrong thing? "

Wrong behavior needs to be corrected. That is not being mean.

If you did the wrong thing, then clearly, you weren't listening to the instructions!

Mean? Catholic elementary school in the 1950s was mean. A few anecdotes:

1st Grade: the nun heard talking while her back was turned. The offender didn't own up to it. So, using a thick ruler, she smacked the knuckles of every kid in that corner of the room from where she believed the sound emanated.

5th Grade: Malcolm was always tormenting the girls. So at lunchtime, the nun marched Malcolm down to the bookstore, selected a girl's uniform (brown and beige dress) and made him wear it for the afternoon session.

6th Grade: The nun made a kid stand at attention in the back of the room for talking. After a while, the kid fainted. Sister ran down the aisle, looked at the kid on the floor, then shifted her attention to the boy in the last seat, started beating him on the head while hollering, "Why didn't you catch him?"

8th Grade: The sister smacked me with a yard stick which must've been flawed because it broke in half. So she's staring at half a yardstick in her hand and shouted, "Now buy me a new one!" which I did.

I could write a book.

Talk about class size .... 80-90 students. Specifically recall 86 in the 3rd grade class, and most of the time you could hear a pin drop. When we weren't actually writing, we had to sit with hands behind the back as the nuns lectured.

Fast fwd. to age 22. Army chaplain asked for a show of hands from those who went to parochial elem. school. He then told us that basic training would be a piece of cake.

But they were happy years for me, although some kids couldn't hack it and dropped out, going to public school which was more student-friendly.

OP says 26 in her other post.

Since events in kindergarten still haunt, I would think that professional help is necessary.

Anger is not the best tool to correct a mistake in a five year old child. It's not even the best tool to correct deliberate misbehavior in a five year old child.
