Its our first winter in a cold climate and our neighbor noticed something amiss with our house that was weather related that was going to cost us a load (I would have never noticed). She checked it out and then came to our door to let us know so we could address it before it got way out of hand. I want to thank her more then just the "oh crap, thanks" I managed to get out before going out to fix it.
Thank you Card? Small gift card? I don't know. How do you say thank you for something like that? She's a nice lady, a little reserved, but overall nice and has been helpful. Maybe I should just wait until I see her and thank her once again in a more sincere way for looking out for us?
When a near neighbor (next block over) captured my run away dog & called me, I had flowers delivered to her house. She saved me a lot of heartache & no amount of money could have replaced him.
Another neighbor who was my son's age shoveled my walk in the winter. I made them cookies.
Any of those ideas, flowers, cookies, or a gift card would be wonderful.
Now, if this would have been a major, major problem that you would have missed perhaps something a little bigger, such as a fruit basket and flowers or a larger gift card.
How old is she? Perhaps mowing her lawn come spring, or raking her leaves in fall. We used to live next door to a little old lady who had emphysema. I'd go over and mow her lawn about once a month in the summers.
Sure glad I did. She called the cops and stopped a burglary in progress at my house while we were at work. It pays to be nice to the neighbors
Shovel her sidewalk. Or bake something. And let her know she helped a lot. Good neighbors are priceless.
My old neighbors just retired to the lake...I really miss them.
Verdict is still out on young couple who bought their home, but at least he made a point to introduce himself when I pulled into my driveway day two. And I did rescue their 6 month old pup that weighs 80 lbs So, at least the ice has been broken.
Baked goods...homemade or from the premiere local place....flowers/house plant....local coffee shop gift card.....but no matter what..include a short handwritten note of thanks.
