My roommate is letting her 17 year old come over and drink. Not all the time but when her sister comes over to spend the night she drinks with her sister. Normally watching movies and such. Should I do or say anything? They are close.

All kinds of legalities & stuff that doesn't lead to anything positive, but.............

Better there than driving around, losing control at a college aged party, etc.

My parents served us kids wine during the holidaze starting at around age 12. Different world today, gotta admit. I must add that I've known a few young adults that were much more mature than some 40 somethings.

Is it a couple of drinks or are we talkin' inebriation?

In my opinion, I think you should leave it alone. She is in safe surroundings and not posing a risk to herself or others. It's healthier to be at home than in a bar or at a wild party.

As long as you're not supplying the alcohol it's not your business, it's a family matter between them.

LEAVE IT ALONE

My friends and I drank at a friends house, where the parents supplied the beer ... The logic was we learned how to drink without getting out of control .. if you drank 1 beer or more, you slept over or walked home

did that from say 18 - 22 without any problems ..

You could be arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. This has happened in my state multiple times.

Unless it's having a direct impact on you (she's getting drunk and noisy and disruptive), it's not your business, you aren't the one serving the kid.

And in most states, an underaged person can be served alcohol in a private home - usually it has to be with parental consent and in most, but not all, states, the parents are supposed to be present. You'd have to look up the laws for your own state if you want to know the specifics.
