Occasionally we would have a warm winter in WNY...the following year would always be miserable. One year, they had to truck snow if from the mountains for the winter festival and the next year the National Guard had to come in to remove all the snow we had. That was in Buffalo and they couldn't even handle that.

Ah Buffalo, that explains it....the snowbelt capital. Our "GREAT" Lakes are the double-edged culprits: bringing us lovely breezes and gorgeous waterfront communities and parks back to lake-effect snowstorms and clouds. But when other parts of the country cries "no water", you can bet we love our fresh-water oceans then!
I once heard someone describe a summer day in Florida as a "Three t-shirt day". That's a pretty accurate description of a summer day in eastern NC.
Amen. When I left Detroit, I went to college in Nashville. I thought that was hot. Then I moved to Western NC, not too bad. When I told my friends in Western NC that I was moving to Greenville NC, all they would say is, "its really hot down there." Guess what, they were right.
While I don't love January and February up here, I honestly believe that I tolerate it better than I did July and August in Greenville.

BUT...like someone said above, there are about 5-10 days where you just do not want to go out. AC is a must. I think if you can handle heat in general, you will do fine.
By the way, this year has been all over the board from what I hear, only being here 2 yrs. But the weather is VERY changable here unlike the west. You get used to being prepared for anything...but I like variation.
As someone from Phoenix I have to chuckle too. What a bunch of wooses

I'll take the humidity like I take my snow - from inside looking out. LOL.
Seriously, I'll be fine.
Arizona is hot low humidity or not.
