Where to go (Charlotte, Hickory, Lincolnton: new house, neighborhoods, purchasing)

My husband and I are looking to relocate to North Carolina. We will be purchasing our first home and are starting a family.We are probably looking to spend around 100-120k and want a single family house. We would even like to build a new house if that is posible in this price range. We were thinking of the charlotte area but are not dead set on it. Does anyone know of any areas that are nice, in our price range, safe, good schools and all.

I would look into Hickory. Decent schools and reasonably priced houses.

I do not know about new homes but homes in that price range that are in decent neighborhoods and schools are a hour outside of the metro area I would also suggest Lincolnton, and Albermarle and maybe try south carolina boards see if they options.

Thanks for the suggesstions. The one other thing is that we are both hoping to go back to school to get are bachelors. So near a college would be good.

The Hickory area would be worth a look. In the Charlotte area, look at Mt. Pleasant, Lincolnton, Cherryville, and Kings Mnt.
