Moving To The Waxhaw Area . I Hear That There Are A Lot Of Snakes. Does Anybody Know If There Are Snake Catchers In The Area. The Reason I Am Asking Is Because I Was Thinking Of Starting My Own Snake Wrangling Buisness. Does Any One Think This Could Be A Profitable Venture???
No. I don't think that there is really that many snakes, especially in the Charlotte metro area.
The eastern diamondback rattlesnake and the eastern coral snake are both considered endangered and protected by law in NC. The timber rattlesnake, and pigmy rattlesnake are also both protected by law in NC, but not yet considered endangered.
I kill the snake and then figure out what kind it is! Sorry, I live in Apex where we aren't supposed to have pygmy's, tell that to my boot..Darn thing was wrapped around the base of a corn stalk and I guess I got to close to hime, lucky I had my boots on..I called the Fish and Game who retrieved it's cold dead body from my garden..
I Would Not Be Looking To Kill Them . Only Catch And Release In A Not So Populated Area
You are not even allowed to catch them without a special permit from the Division of Wildlife Management office. I am not sure how strict they are about giving those out. I don't think that there are enough around causing problems to support a business.
