You need to be way more specific. And I think you mean Winston-Salem? But what specific things do you care about? Jobs should be first. Do you know for sure that there are jobs in your field in every one of these places? Do you care about schools, or not have children. There are 1000 critieria that someone COULD list, but you should tell us the things you care about the most.

Also, be aware that city-Data has data pages on most cities over a certain size, that give a lot of info. Here is the page with the NC cities; you should do a little bit of research on your own first and then ask more targetted questions based on what you read. Four cities/towns are a lot to compare, especially when you don't tell us what specificially you want in a town nor whether you have job prospects lined up in any of them.

While Hillsborough is the county seat of Orange County, it is more of a village than a city, it is not that much bigger than Mebane and, population wise Chapel Hill is the largest town in the county. Both Hillsborough and Mebane have very low crime rates, a bit less than half of Mebane is in Orange County the rest is in Alamance, Alamance county taxes are considerably lower. Orange County schools are always right up there in the best of the state category. I'm not sure if I answered any of your questions, but, I am still a bit unsure just what the question was. Specificity is sometimes helpful.

My suggestion is to read the local newspapers daily (online) for all those cities for a few weeks/months. This will really help you get a picture of each city and its issues and strengths.

I asked you on one of your other threads how you actually plan to move here anyway since you said you will need to work, but you haven't addressed that yet. You do realize you can't just move here without a job, don't you?
