Southpoint is nice because it's almost new and has NO competition based on it's location (No, the mall in Chapel Hill does not count). The location is a con for me because it is too far out unless you plan on going to CH for other things such as A Southern Season. Southpoint also has a movie theater PLUS great restauraunts most malls on this list do not have including Maggiano's.
South park because it feels urban. Living on the outskirts of metro Charlotte, its nice to go to a mall surrounded by condos and midrise office and hotel towers with a little bus hub of sorts. I don't like malls so, for me its more about food courts and miscellaneous things.
And I love targets and Harris teeters and bestbuys in 2,3,4 story buildings. Its different.
My favorite mall is Hanes Mall. It did hold crown as North Carolina mall until South Park expanded.
Hanes mall does have more tenants and is two floors and some of major tenants have 3 floors.
Hanes Mall has over 200 tenants where South Park has only 135.
Besides the two floors it also has carpeted floors making it easier to walk around. Even though they need it cleaned in some areas I do find carpeted areas more pleasant.
It also has a Carousel and this attraction you can are bungie and bounced in the air.
I do miss the countless water fall fountains that used to exist before the 90's.
The whole area is like a city as described above you will find every type of big box store up a block on Hanes Mall Blvd.
Second mall I like is same as others is Concord Mills. It has unique stores a fun circular layout with a mix entertainment like a Speed Park within.
South Park is cool you dont have to be uppity to go there maybe shop.
I do like it has a Nordstorm; Love that place.
I like the glass ceiling in Carolina Place it cool mall if your in the area.
I like the remodel job done at Four Seasons but I didnt care for the shops within. It also has multiple floors.
SouthPoint is nice mall. I might like it if I lived in its area but with part of it being outdoor mall I am trying to understand how you can enjoy it when weather isnt favorable. That area has grown huge over the last decade.
North Lake is a nice new mall. I like it has valet parking the Big screen with sitting I dont get why wold someone go to a mall and watch TV.
Here picture of the Carousel, bungie jump I took today. They also had a train in for the holidays and Santa playing a guitar.
Since the advent of the newer malls like Southpoint in Durham and Triangle Town Center in Raleigh, the juxtaposition against the older ones like Crabtree is striking. The new malls take up so much land in comparison! Crabtree is sitting on a spit of property when compared to these new Triangle malls. Crabtree Valley with its surrounding multilevel decks allows adjacent properties to feel connected to the mall in a way that is different from the newer ones that are surrounded by acres and acres of asphalt surface parking. Both the Southpoint and Triangle Town Center areas feel much more like Sprawlville. The redeveloped North Hills land area is also small in comparison and its new form is way more integrated into surrounding neighborhoods than the new malls will ever be.
I like Streets at South point. I love the live entertainment, outdoor, water foundations, dining and outdoor shopping.
