Safe areas in Rocky Mount? There are none. I live here, in what used to be thought of as a safe, upper middle class neighborhood. Not now. I refuse to walk outside after it is dark. My car has been broken into 3 times in 4 years. IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY! 5 others on my street as well. They drove off with on neighbor's car. We used to think we lived in a safe neighborhood until then. Not to mention the grafiti that randonmly apears on our brick entryway to our neighborhood. Most people in Rocky Mount are moving out close to Wilson or Nashville. The utilities in the City limits are outrageous! Rocky Mount is dirty and full of crime.

I grew up in Rocky Mount in the 1980s and I am surprised and shocked how it has changed. I read in Forbes today that it is one of the 10 poorest cities in America. What happened? I remember areas live Cloverdale, Meadowbrook, Englewood and Candlewood were nice. what happened?
