Unfortunately, it just seems that all he's doing is Art Pope's bidding, what Art Pope wants, Puppet McCrory will carry it out for him instead of what is in the best interest of NC as a whole! I didn't vote for him in the last election, and if McCrory continues to be a puppet for Art Pope, I definately won't vote for him in 2016!

It turns out North Carolinians are not loving their new governor and the GOP controlled state legislature. NC polls show the majority of both democrats and republicans are not pleased with their actions....issues like cutting unemployment benefits and cabinet raises.

here is the approval rating for the state legislature

40% approval
49% disapproving.

The answer is No, they have become the power mad party faster then you would have thought. I am glad to see that they are getting out of the way(?) for business to start hiring That way the hundreds of people who apply for each job offered will find one ?????????

It's not surprising and it seems to me it will only get worse as the supporters wane... and wane... The "support money" will likely be there, so he'll probably bounce along throughout the term and be competitive until a truly viable opposition presents themselves... which one can hope happens come elections.

These GOP state legislators have been given a chance to make a real difference... yet they seem to choose running their states like alcoholic bipolar alpha Dads raising families using "tough love" and "cracking down". It's old school and there will be some who like it I guess... but if we're going to treat everyone living in poverty or jobless like the bum teenager sleeping until Noon every day - "get up and get a job or you get the belt again", then "throw them out on the street for their own good"... while we let the house crumble around us because we're not taking care of it... where is that going to leave us? Does this truly make the state better in the long term? It seems that most don't agree - and we live in a democracy last I checked.

I'm surprised the approval rating is as high as 40%, given that the pubs haven't really done anything of substance since taking over. Outlawing women's nipples and cutting unemployment and Medicaid won't bring jobs to our state.

All that does is make us the laughingstock of the nation, but the Republicreeps don't care, just long as their ideology wins out!

You know, I'm an optimistic person by nature, I do hope for the best, but looking over the first month of McCrory's administration, it looks like McCrory is going down the same road as the other Republican jokes of governors across the country who'd much rather gorvern out of ideology rather than doing anything of substance, all they want to do is "Stick it to Obama" while everyone else suffers from their irresponsible leadership! Of course, we all know Art Pope is running the show and HE's just a figurehead!

So many times I've read comments in this forum from people who said they voted for McCrory because he "had seemed like a moderate" -- and then were suddenly surprised, shocked and disappointed when, after his election, Pat McCrory began acting like an ultra-right-wing NeoCon.

As with numerous other (mostly GOP) political candidates around the country, Pat's campaign got large contributions from the Koch Brothers. And as with so many other political candidates and officeholders who got those large Koch subsidies, Pat's ideology -- and alliances -- shifted a bit. All that influx of money had bought enough of his loyalty to redirect a substantial portion of his focus.

Instead of working toward what he may have previously believed to be the best interests of his constituents, Pat had sold his soul into slavery, thereby obligating himself to follow the directives of the Koch Brothers and the far-right causes they support.

Once Pat had been bought and paid for, he really had no "ideology" to call his own anymore. And Art Pope is just one of Pat's "overseers" the Kochs have assigned to make sure Pat follows orders.

Now the Kochs are pulling the strings, and Pat's got no choice but to obey his puppetmasters.

"Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to forever repeat the same mistakes."
-- Edmund Burke
