Anyone been to the lazy 5 ranch in mooresville? I have and it's a wonderful place to go, get some great photos, pet some awesome animals and have a great day. Anyone who has went, do you have any great stories about it or some pictures?

I respect and admire the NC Zoo for what it tries to do and the large natural space it gives the animals. however Lazy 5 is more fun and better experience with the animals.

I thought I had pictures here on CD but I cant find them at the moment.

Great thread

I had never heard of it before, but I want to go there now! I'm looking at the website.

Do these animals seem to have adequate room? I went to school in Salisbury and went to Dan Nicholas Park in 1998 and there was a bear in the smallest cage possible for that thing to live in. The tour guide said that the bear had been there for something like 15 years and it broke my heart and I did not want to go back. I haven't forgotten that sad bear and I know that DNP upgraded their bear living facilities to a large habitat probably ten years ago, but I know other places do similar things, like the Jambbas ranch in Fayetteville last year.

This in North Carolinas must see and do's
Most of the animals roam freely. The animals approach you vs the other way around. You have two options riding a trailer or drive through. If driving with a group I recommend a 4 door so the people in back seat can enjoy one on one experience.

When you go in and pay for admission get buckets of feed and when going through the zoo hang on to buckets lol the Emus will be glad to take it away from you.

Red, they have a ton of space. There arent any cages, they're all roaming around. of course theres a fence that goes around the whole property and up at the entrance but they are basically out in the wild (or they think they are. lol)

Sunny, you're so right. The first time I went I was looking out the other window and felt something pulling my safety belt and I looked and was face to face with a huge Emu looking at me like "Um... wheres my food??" Lol

Yeah, help the kids with the buckets. The animals stick their head right in pretty hard and small hands let go very quickly. Nothing like getting 4 buckets of food and having nothing left after 10 feet in the gates.

I recommend the trailer option vs your car. Trailer means no mess in your car from slobber or spilled feed or scratches on your car.
