I've been reading a lot of these posts and I've gathered some insight. But I want to ask my own question: I've been living in NYC for over 20 years. I'm not born here but I feel like a New Yorker. Now that we have 3 kids, NYC is becoming impossible. We want better weather and great schools. We thought about CT for the great schools but the weather is just as bad and it's not that interesting.
We are considering NC. We would prefer to be close to the beach but even if its a drive away that's ok. My wife stays home with the kids and I am a personal trainer. I would like to open my own gym which offers kick ass classes (like Barry's Bootcamp). Where do you suggest we live? For quality of life, business and schools...
Well the Wilmington area is close to the beach and has good schools and has maybe the best overall weather in NC....but there are a lot of personal trainers because of that (although there are a lot of folks that use personal trainers as well)...so I would say if you move there with the idea of supporting a family on one income, you better be good....real good.
