It's also common to have upscale subdivisions across the street from trailer parks.

If you are living on skid row I suggest you move to a different part of town.

Were you able to research the area before signing a one year lease?

I'm quite happy raising my kids in the Gray's Creek area.

Sorry folks, Fayetteville is without a doubt the worst place I have ever lived....and I was stationed in the Anbar province in Iraq at the height of the war.
It's hot, it's seedy, and it has no soul....that's my opinion after only 6 months here.
I'm currently renting in the best school district and am having a house built here out of necessity.....rental mgmt company's here do not understand that they are supposed to fix things.....
We could not live on post due to the fact that Ft Bragg sits in the middle of the EE Cummings High school district (which is on the level of a ghetto school) and I will not subject my boys to that.
Why anyone would settle here is beyond me. I will be selling my new house (probably at a loss) when my sentence here is up.
If I owned Fayetteville and Hell, I would rent out Fayetteville and live in Hell.

The high school is E. E. Smith HS.

Fayetteville is a dump! Was stationed there and still have a lot of family that live there and I hate to go visit them. If you do not have to live there, I suggest you do not!

Cumberland County Schools are not the best. The Jack Britt area is one of the best. Its definatly one of the most expensive areas to live here.

Aaimes (I think it is) is the worst rental management to deal with. They accused a friend of mine of doing stuff to some carpet that was "new" but they couldnt produce a recipt to prove it. The rental place we rented through when we first moved here couldnt fix a few things because the owner refuse to do so.

Westover is by far one of the worst in this town. EE Smith is not as bad as some may think it is. I have friends who's kids go to it (one who did a choice school at Massey one year). There is also a Choice School program where you can choose to send your child to another school in the district. We take advantage of that. There are some advantages to living on post. Especially if you have small kids. They have Pre-k where they dont turn away kids like they have in the Cumberland Co System (I know this for a fact). They also have the youth services that are cheaper than off post also.

The public school Pre-K program is a "More at Four" program, so they have certain requirements they must meet to be accepted.

They have changed the name from More at 4 to NCPre-K this year. They may have requirements but because of my youngests speech issue they could not turn her away. I think it wrong that the School System did turn kids away. At the very least they could have dont like they do on post and do 2 Pre-k classes a day for a couple of hours. Major part of the problem of turning away at least 1k kids solved.

Agreed, Fayetteville drivers are pretty bad. Bad enough that I decided to set up a dash cam.
