Looks like Durham is now refusing to allow inspections of ballot envelopes, which are supposed to be public record. The board is majority Republican. Why would they block review and open themselves up to lawsuit?
Thanks. The hiring and testing part sort of answers why they need 3 days to do what they did in one night, but I'm still confused why they won't allow inspection of the absentee ballot envelopes, they're supposed to be publicly available for review

Ridiculous, especially at each level of the election process that is dominated by Republican officials. I am confused as to why other Republicans don't trust Republicans....I think that sums it all up. The last ditch effort is to invalidate the recount process via unreasonable time constraints, then make a beeline to the GA with a request to appoint McCory, this isn't rocket science.
The play is to go down this rat hole in an attempt to invalidate the heavy Black/Dem (surpress) Durham county votes. I don't care if they recount it 100 times, the play is to create enough suspicion to justify the GOP-laden GA appointing the new gov.

Isn't a Durham Republican basically a Johnston County Democrat? They haven't been exactly accomodating
Meanwhile Hillary's team is still questioning votes in other states that have a much larger margin and fewer "irregularities." Anyone that steps back from their partisan bias for a moment has to acknowledge that the Durham and Bladen situations need to be investigated
Durham transcribed thousands of votes from computer tape by hand. Asking that it be recounted by machine is reasonable. There's documented evidence of voter fraud in Bladen. Seems reasonable to ask that to be sorted out before finalizing

So the vote was so rigged against McCrory.... but Not Burr and Trump. Wow. Someone must really have it out for Potty Pat

Durham did everything by the book under direct supervision of the State Board of Elections with a representative from the SBOE IN THE ROOM when they did it. There's no reason to do this recount. It's a waste of taxpayer's money and time and undermines confidence in the election process in NC. They already did it the right way.
I just find it humorous the scare mongering of voter fraud is going to be put to the test, lol. Pat repeated the voter fraud sham so much, I think part of him started to believe his own rhetoric
