I lived in Jacksonville for 5 years and the mosquitoes there were dreadful. I think some areas of NC are more prone to them than others.

I'm allergic to mosquitoes so I definitely, definitely notice them!

Is this a joke?? I don't get it! Y'all do know that there are actually mosquitos here right??? They bite like crazy!! I've lived in NC my whole life and have seen them everywhere I've ever lived here!! Ok maybe not for the short year or so i lived in Franklin or the year and a half or so we lived in Wingate and Morven (back and forth between the 2) But I was very young and only remember the huge bugs in the mountains (beetles that bang on your windows, and huge skeeter-eaters). But mostly I've lived in and around the Triangle...grew up between Oxford and Hillsborough NC, lived in and around Chapel Hill and Durham...currently living in outskirts of Durham which for those who don't know is about a 30min drive from Chapel Hill and I can GUARANTEE there are a **** ton of mosquitos here!!! Always my entire life I have seen them and been eaten up by them!! If I accidentally leave water sitting anywhere in my yard I have their wiggly larve in it very quickly! Have to dump any water sitting immidietly or the yard will have way more mosquitoes than normal! Now that I'm an adult they don't seem to bite me AS MUCH but they still DEFINITELY DO BITE ME VERY OFTEN!!! Idk how y'all missed em but they are EXTREMELY PREVALENT HERE!!! Now given not nearly as bad as they are at OBX!! (Where the grounds keepers at the camp grounds have to where m mosquito nets!) They are bigger and much more aggressive there but they are bad enough here for sure!

I lived in a house in N Raleigh from 2002-2016 and the mosquitoes were horrible. I didn't have a reaction to them, but if I went out into the yard, I would be covered within a minute. We had moved there from a townhouse 3 miles away and didn't have a mosquito problem at all there. My parents owned a house on a lake in Person County, no mosquitoes at all. Now we live in the mountains and no mosquitoes here, either. Just that one house in N Raleigh and it was a heavily treed lot, so I am sure that played into it for sure.

My experience with mosquitos in NC is that the more wooded and/or natural the area is, the more mosquitos it has. The Sound side of the Outer Banks is really bad too.
That said, I don't see many mosquitos in downtown Raleigh.
FWIW, mosquitos love me. If they are around, I get bit.
