North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says he will sign into law a Republican-backed bill making sweeping changes to how and when citizens can vote, even though he is not familiar with some of its key provisions.
McCrory praised the bill in a media conference Friday, saying it will restore faith in elections by requiring voters to present government-issued identification at the polls. But when The Associated Press asked the GOP governor how three particular provisions of the bill would help prevent voter fraud, he instead began talking about other sections of the legislation.
When pressed specifically about a provision ending a popular high school civics program that encourages students to register to vote in advance of their 18th birthdays, McCrory replied he had not seen that part of the bill.
Not surprised, if you took a poll you might be alarmed at how many, who support it, don't know what is really in the bill.
On the flip side not real smart admitting that in public.

Goes to show you that he's an idiot just like the rest of the Teapublicans!
Obama never read "Obama-care'. Bush never read 'No child left behind'. Not reading the bill is the norm not the exception.
In no way is this news at all.
I remember Pelosi saying "we have to pass it (Obamacare) to know whats in it".
This thread is so ridiculous that I didnt even want to post on it because how many politicians of both parties sign or vote on legislation that they have not read.

I didn't offer any commentary. I reposted an article from an NC news station, who resposted an article from the The Associated Press. So if this post is ridiculous how much more ridiculous is the AP article. And if you feel that is ridiculous as well, think about how far and wide the ridiculousness is being spread, considering it is an AP article and probably on multiple outlets in and out of NC.
It's sad that it's ok that it's the "norm and not the exception." I don't care what party does it. It's wrong. If you are in a field like real estate or law, the "i didn't read it, don't know what's in it" excuse can get you into trouble. Legislators that write laws should be held to the same standard. They aren't, because we don't make them accountable the same way.

It's not only that he hasn't read it. He apparently hasn't even been briefed on it by his people and "is not familiar" with it.
