I would love to learn more about these areas - Holly Springs, Matthews, Clayton. Schools, safety, quality of life, entertainment, job market, etc. I only ask about these towns because I know people who have relocated to them. But I am looking for anonymous opinions right now, vs those I know who relocated.
Any other towns that meet the criteria of good schools, safe, quality of life, etc, appreciated. Tell me more about NC, as someone who might be relocating from LI, NY.
You know Matthews is in the Charlotte area and the other two are in the Raleigh area?? Where might your job be located? What part of LI are you from? Clayton might be more rural than you like. Holly Springs, Cary, Apex...all more alike than different but each has their own vibe....but if you want a decent commute you might like one more than another.

Yes. I realize they are in different areas. I just know people who have moved to each of those and I wanted an unbiased opinion from those who I don't personally know. No job yet. Just entertaining the idea right now. Would there be more industries in particular towns I mentioned than others? I did visit Charlotte area and suburbs around over a decade ago but really don't much know about any of them.
...... Would there be more industries in particular towns I mentioned than others?.....
Do you mean manufacturing industries? Holly Springs and Clayton are well outside the City of Raleigh, and are mainly residential. Matthews is inside the Charlotte Beltway, but is also know as a good residential area.
All three town are nice suburbs, but you will have more success by searching on them individually. There are abundant example of recent comments.

Still trying to clarify the question about industries. If the poster is asking about comparative job opportunities in each town, I suspect that Matthews would have more. It is closer to the center of Charlotte, and probably has denser development.
Both Clayton and Holly Springs are well outside the center of Raleigh. Without knowing what the poster's job skills are, I suspect he could be looking at a long commute. Also wanting 1/3 acre with trees will put the family in older, less dense areas. The compromise could be a longer commute.
I suggest the poster concentrate on locating the ares for jobs first. The residence search should come later. All of Wake, Johnston and Mecklenburg offer numerous locations good for raising a family and welcoming to transplants.
Most new construction is small lots and they clear cut them. I live on a wooded .38 acre, my house was built in 1995. In my zip code new construction is $500K minimum, probably .16 lot. And that's a production builder. You may have to decide which is more important.
Broadly the Charlotte area is more known for finance and banking, the Triangle is where RTP, the capital and 3 world class universities are.
