So I am wondering. is the weather really nice there? I am from Cleveland and we are snow belt snow crazy!!! Personally I hate snow, but my boyfriend loves it. So I am trying to be nice and negotiate. Is there snow anywhere in NC?

I am also a fitness person. In the summer is it to hot to run outside?

The most important single influence contributing to the variability of North Carolina climate is altitude. The elevation of NC ranges from sea level to 6,684 feet. The average annual temperature at Southport on the lower coast is nearly as high as that of interior northern Florida, while the average on the summit of Mount Mitchell is lower than that of Buffalo, NY.

Lenoir NC in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains! I defy you to find a better year around weather pattern in an affordable area.
Boyfriend wants to see snow? Drive 25 miles and go skiing. Wanna cool off in the summer? Drive 25 miles and have a picnic in the mountains.
It gets a little warm in the summer but the humidity isn't like that up north. You'll hear a lot about the "ice storms" but they aren't that frequent.
If it snows it may be 60 in a day or so.
We rode our motorcycle to Last year's Winter Fest in Blowing Rock. It was over 60 to the sadness of the ice carvers, but it was a very mild winter.

In Asheville (Western NC in mountains) we've been seeing highs in the lower 40s and lows in the lower 20s lately... In summer 90 is considered a horrible heat wave temp and from what I hear rarely gets that hot...(recently moved from south ga where 105 in summer is expected daily)... Temp usually drops 3.5 degrees every 1000 feet above sea level... I have only seen about 3 decent snowfalls this winter in Asheville, however, the immediate surrounding higher elevated areas have seen much more...like happalee said, you can drive like 20 min to reach these areas

In eastern NC you will be in a steambath in the summer. 90 is cool here in sunmmer. The humidity just sticks and settles here. Average temp is about 95-100 with heat indicies of 100+

The warm weather we had in December wasnt unique only to NC. Most of the eastern half of the nation was milder than usual. Highs for the past week here were around 40, lows in the low 20s, colder in the mountains.

The summer is hot and humid, anyone who says different hasnt lived in NC during the summer. Highs typically range around 90, and there is quite a bit of humidity.

Summertime is decent in the mountains. Average daily highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s for the month of July depending on the elevation. Asheville is 83.3. The rest of the state is another story.

We see snow from the mountains to the coast.

More in the mountains, much less at the coast.
