Mistygeo: Is renting an option for him? While there are a bunch of apartment complexes, the ones that are willing to waiver for pets are usually older and less appealing.

Fayetteville /Hope Mills has always had a large number of rentals however, and it's much easier to find a place with a yard that accepts pets that way. You'd likely find the difference in rent might not be too different than a nice complex, either.

Just a thought.

I think he wanted an apartment so he wouldn't have to take care of the yard. I've been looking online all night at apartment complexes and now I'm totally confused!! It's just hard to know what area would be better to live in. He doesn't mind a 20-30 min commute to work.

Where are the complexes that accept pets? If we know where they are, then we can tell you about the neighborhoods....

Not familiar with the 1st one (it's in the Arran Lakes neighborhood), but the other 2 are pretty decent neighborhoods. They're close to the mall area (shopping & restaurants), close to base, and a generally safe area.

Thank you. It's hard to know where to live when you move to a new area. I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Check out this place...
Tanglewood Apartments 888-465-7096

101 Tanglewood Drive Southern Pines, NC 28387
It is the other side of base but within 30 minutes drive. Very nice out this way. Pet friendly as I have several myself. Small town feel but easy drive to larger cities.

48 yr old traveler, It all boils down to what you are willing to except. People can give you ALL the information THEY HAVE but they don't have ALL THE INFORMATION themselves.

You say you have a little money to last you about a year. Come on down and rent a little appartment with an optional agreement of a 30 to 60 day notice to vacate. Search for you dream job and your dream home at the same time. Which ever comes first will weigh heavy on the later decision you will have to make.

By the way, Fayetteville is what you make of it. Once you get here, you will see there are some pearls in the rugh. Most people just go where they have to go and no where else. Sometimes, I take a drive just to see how differently we all live. And I have seen wonders that you would not believe. Houses so big and tucked away for public view and also houses so small that they should be condemed.

Check out the police department web sites, they have all crime information that's up to date.
Also, make sure you try to get a clue of future developments, Walmarts, etc, will build right next door to you becuase there is one thing about fayetteville and the surrounding areas, IT IS GROWING....39yrs old, Military, came back to retire here.
