I only looked on the first page, so forgive if this has been discussed a million times.

I love reading about the NC threads, as I would love to make the move there (get back to warmer weather)... in the next year or so. I have only driven thru charlotte.

What are the differences between RTP area and Charlotte. Both seem to be growing tremendously, and have good wealth of happy relocat"ees". I dont want to start a "RTP vs Charlotte thread"..

But rather..I just am curious as to what the differences in the area is...why did people go on route versus the other. Is it an economy issue, lifestyle issue, affordabilty. I would like to know as it seems like IT is booming in both areas..so I would like some insiders views as to what they think.

Thanks!

Both are very nice areas. Both have nice 4-season climates, major metros, very strong economies, clean/green, and great quallities of life.

Raleigh's crime's lower and has better colleges. Charlotte's got more to do recreationally and has a great downtown.

Can't really go wrong with either.

For me Charlotte was more lively and had a better vibe. I always say Raleigh reminds me of upstate NY. I'm in my 40's so it's not important for me to hang around colleges or coffee houses. Stick me on a boat in Lake Norman and I'm a happy camper. Whatever floats your boat

Main differences Raleigh is more the mini van soccer mom capital and charlotte much more like a big city feel.
