I want to give a heads up in regards to this storm system developing now through Wednesday. Low pressure will reallly wind up over northern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday with winds gusts over 50 mph possible over most of the Dakotas....especially central and east and adjacent western Minnesota. Rain will change to snow and heavy snow is a possibility for areas from Minot to Rugby and Devils Lake to possibly even Grand Forks northward into Manitoba Tuesday night into Wednesday. Driving Highway 2 Tuesday night and Wednesday could be very hazardous. For anyone who hasnt read any of my past posts I am a meteorologist at NWS GF. (please note I am posting this on my own time from home)
The central pressure of this low pressure system is expected to drop to become the strongest storm to affect the region since the late 90s.
We've been getting cold and rough weather (snow level is quite low and high winds--thought it was going to blow the house down last night!) in Utah... it's heading your way!
Yikes. After living in California for decades, this will be my first real winter in many years. I'm going to stay indoors tomorrow, bake something, and drink hot tea. Thanks for the heads-up, Dan.
