ND isn't the best place in USA not least because of rough winters. Economy is good now mostly due to oil but living in Williston sucks anyway (no housing, expensive food, cold). There are only 4 +40k cities in the state so no wonder there is such a low crime rate - everywhere nationwide there is low crime in small towns. I can agree that it is the easiest to find a job in ND now but struggling with snow and freeze plus paying lots for heating ain't fun at all...

I prefer to have a job for rough winters rather than being unemployed in a sunny state.

OMG, I have been there many times, it is beautiful in its own way, but boring, and brutally ridiculous in the winter, sorry you can have it.

Thumbs down North Dakota is a Horrible Place to Live!

The Natives are nice to your face while they try to run you off behind your back. Groceries are 5 times the price of any other state, you will always be an outsider to the clickish natives. The only thing kids learn in these backward schools is how to run a tractor.

It's COLD here, severe winters are the new norm and the entire state seems to be sinking into the ground due to enormous overland flooding. Your land might be high and dry, but the local farmers or the next town over might open their levies and flood you without warning!

In the Eastern part of North Dakota you must drive to Fargo to find a Walmart or McDonald's.

Good jobs will always be reserved for locals.

There is a reason that most of the state turned into Ghost Towns!
AVOID North Dakota!

in Florida for instance you don't pay for heating in winter and could survive eating free fish and fruit plus some food stamps... In ND you would freeze to death if you don't have money and a reliable car. Even though there is job in ND there are very few rich people there because wages are low.

I think you better pull back on it a little. Grocery's are 5 times the amount anywhere else??? So in Wyoming, I'm paying $3.50 for a gallon of mile and you are telling me that North Dakota is $17.50 a gallon? Hmmmmm. Me thinks it's a bit of a stretch.

North Dakota floods every year. It's nothing new. Didn't you research it before you moved there? Didn't you check on your property before moving in?

Most of Willistons job force is NOT locals. I don't know if they are "good jobs" or not, but my neighbor is pulling six figures in Williston. That makes him not a local and I'd consider it a pretty good job.

Seems you have a vendetta with North Dakota. What happened, did you loose your job?
