How are they? Which ones are better. I heard to stay away from Geisinger?

I use Geisinger and have had no problems. A matter of fact Geisinger is probably the highest ranking hospital in the region. The president even was quoted as calling Geisinger a national role model for other hospitals. I dont care for General hospital, and I cannot speak for the others.

I have had open heart surgery, gall bladder surgery and cancer surgery at General. No problems with the care I received.

Since my physicians are all affiliated with General, that's where I go and am satisfied.

When we lived in the Poconos we went to Geisinger many, many times. No problems whatsoever.

I too, vote for Geisinger. Used to live in Danville, where GMC was right in my backyard. I go to the Mount Pocono clinic since moving and have been very happy with the care my entire family has received at that facility.

This would be the same hospital that sent my friend home two days in a row complaining of pains, he didn't get sent home on the third visit and was life flighted to Danville where he died of a massive staph infection.

He had no insurance but that is no excuse.

Im sorry to hear about that. It is a shame that medical treatment has turned into a for profit system. Everyone deserves unbiased medical care regardless of status, income, race ect. I personally believe it is a right! We pay enough taxes in this country that everyone should have the right to free medical care.

Mercy Hospital is one of the top 100 hospitals in the Country. I like it cause it's all private rooms too.

If a hospital is needed, Mercy Hospital in Scranton is always the place I think of - though when my daughter sprained her ankle, and my son splashed clorox in his eye, I took them to CMC as per their pediatrician's orders. Have no complaints about either one of them though CMC seemed to make you wait a looooooooooooooooooooong time. Guess that's par for the course w/ emergency room stuff.

I did not have a good experience at Wayne Memorial in Honesdale and I could not recommend them based on my personal experience....but then again that was 15 years ago; a lot can change in 15 years...perhaps. They could not keep it in their heads (or on my chart) that I was 8 months pregnant (and it was OBVIOUS). And yes, the pregnancy was rather important in regard to the procedure I was going to have (same day surgery to remove a cyst)....yet, they couldn't remember why my belly bulged so...

This can happen at ANY hospital...sadly...and there is no excuse for it.

My friend's father died because his oxygen tube got clogged up - they didn't clean it out! The man suffocated. No, not Geisenger...but another well known hospital in the area.
