I once saw the textbooks of a Funamentalist Christian School and they were published by Bob Jones University - Jesus and God were mentioned every where. It was also radically right wing.

Everyone has their own comfort level with religion vs athieism.
We were moving from a very strong school district, and for my son this is a critical year in terms of college preparation. he is a junior.
I too looked at the currlculum and I was impressed by the AP offerings and diversity of courses.
My children are used to personel attention and they get that here as they did in The Three Village District in Stony Brook NY.

I also like the fact that community service and volunteerism are stressed!
I have never heard a bad thing about the school from any of the locals that I spoke to while making the choice to send them there.

I might have felt differently if my children were younger. But both of them have their own minds at this point. They know why they are there. All of the other students they have met come from families who value higher ed. So thats the story, folks!
Im not opposed to them teaching religion, as you can understand history better with understanding the mentality of the time.

I dont want them to teach atheism(unless its in an appropriate class where they learn about different kinds of people perhaps) but I do want the integrity of the science class to stay intact. It cannot be science without the scientific method, if they teach creationism in their science class, then they need to be aware creationism does not use the scientific method, so it cant be in science class. It would be like doing pushups and running laps in math class.

Well it is here and I agree. I am not a fundie and I do not believe in Creationism. I also do not worship the bible nor am I a believer in the inerrrancy of the bible.

One of my children is an agnostic and the other is sort of a very liberal Lutheran Christian.

We do not support many of the Catholic Church's views - on homosexuality, the right to choose,
divorce, or the edict that ministers, or priests, not marry. But we are against the death penalty.

You really have me all wrong. The most important thing for me is a good education in a safe enviornment.

HR has provided that.

Also math and science are not the only important subjects in school.
HR stresses a classical education. English, History, and the Classics are stressed.
DH majored in English and I, in sociology and English.

Most of my undergraduate years were spent at the very liberal Clark Univrsity which is roundly reviled by the right wing.
Where Goddard invented the fuel rocket, and Freud spoke. That Clark.

Default uniforms

Sheena
My daughter is very excited to begin her high school career at Holy Redeemer. You seemed to be very pleased with the school and I am seeking tips on purchasing gently used girls uniforms. Good luck to you and your family. Thanks!

The post is from 2010. She lived there for a couple of years then moved.

My niece and nephew went there and liked it well enough, but that was years ago.

Good luck to your daughter and I hope she does well.
