How is that at all constructive or helpful to a potential new resident?

That address is actually on a street that separates Wilkes-Barre City from its inner suburb of Hanover Township. While South Wilkes-Barre has a VERY sketchy reputation for violent crime, the immediate neighborhood you'll be in should be just fine. The worst neighborhood is generally between Hanover Street and Center City, especially near the White House Cafe on Hazle Street, which has been home to a few shootings and stabbings in recent memory. There have also been issues with prostitution and drug trafficking along South Main Street, Academy Street, and Sambourne Street. This area is inarguably the worst in the city for poverty, blight, and crime, but your immediate neighborhood should be away from the rifraff.

Your children would be attending the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, more specifically Meyers High School in the future (I'm not quite sure what elementary school serves this neighborhood). Did you already close on a house here or not? If not, then there are better areas I could recommend to you in the city proper. If so, then I'd consider sending your children to either a nearby private or Catholic school, if you can afford it. Wilkes-Barre Area schools don't exactly have the best reputation. The Bear Creek Charter School is also a good option for the elementary years, but I'm unsure if bus transportation is provided from South Wilkes-Barre.

Best of luck to you, and welcome in advance to NEPA!
