It's sad we'll all be long dead before America becomes a postracial society, if it ever happens.

It would appear that the wiki article is wrong. According to the U.S. Census bureau, Scranton is 91.8% white.

This whole argument is trivial anyway. Even if the population of Scranton is only "85%" white, that means in a city of 72,500 people, only about 10,000 are not white.
It is pretty ludicrous to think Scranton is anything but "whiteville", especially since the census says it is 92% white.

We will become segregated again, before that happens.

No, it appears the data from the wiki page is accurate, its backed up by an article from the Scranton Times in a series highlighting the local census figures:
Scranton's population decline bottoming out; growth led by minority population - The Times-Tribune

According to the data, about 12,000 residents of Scranton are non-white....that is not "whiteville" by NEPA standards. Maybe it is if you're coming from Harlem or Philly, but not around here, considering that when I was a kid, even in the city of Scranton, seeing a dark-skinned person walking down the street was almost as rare as seeing an alien ship land on courthouse square.

Yeah but even in NEPA. Scranton is the whitest city in the region when compared wih W-B, Hazleton, Stroudsburg etc. There seems to be a stark difference in the color of the population. Wilkes-Barre is clearly a mixed race city, but when I visit Scranton (downtown anyway) it is overwhelmingly white.

Really? You are going to trust wiki data and a rag newspaper over the data from the census bureau?

But who cares, I don`t live there. Yes go phillies, it`s like mocha latteville there in Scranton. I`m surprised I don`t see more chickens running around in the streets of Scranton.

The Times articles on the census were on the 2010 census data! I don't know where your figures came from, possibly the 2009 estimates?

Wilkes-Barre isn't any more "diverse" than Scranton....actually probably less so. Wilkes-Barre does have the area's largest black population, but there doesn't seem to be a major hispanic population in W-B.
