I go to the high school right next to Wilkes. A kid had his hand severed last month and he was only 15. The only thing to do is get drunk and have sex or stay home and study, honestly. It's a good school if you plan on staying in this disgusting valley.

Wilkes-Barre has a relatively low crime rate for a city of it's size.

It is a city though, and it's folly to compare it to a suburb.

We feel very safe here.

We are looking at home in Barney Farms, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Can someone please provide me with information about this community. Is it mandatory that homes have "flood insurance"? Has this particular community ever been flooded?? Is Barney Farms a safe community? We are not familiar with the area at all and would like some insight. There will be no children moving just adults. But, we want to be safe too......lol!!! What type of community is Barney Farms?? No need to provide information about schools and such. I look forward to your response. Any information about the Barney Farms community would be appreciated.
Thank you, Deb

The bank is not going to give you a loan without it. That particular area would have been under about 20 feet of water if not more in 1972. The recent flood in 2013 would have been worse except it's protected by a levee.

It will get flooded at some point, might be next week or 1000 years from now.

LOL HAHA, Not that I don't agree with this relatively glowing statement but talk about the horses mouth. All it takes is one bad seed and you turn a cheerleader into a protester.

weren't he and his wife the 'urban pioneers' that were going to single handedly gentrify Wilkes Barre? :-)
I'm sure they are now blessing another lucky neighborhood with their eminence and largesse.
