Just wondering if Elk really is better skiing.... Everyone loves Blue- even
my sister who sooo only prefers skiing New York. She hates the lines
and the ice that other mountains tend to have.

Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!!

Elk is a better mountain. The terrain at Elk and the conditions always seem to the best in NEPA.

Agreed. Jack Frost and Camelback are pretty decent also.

Thumbs up JF/BB & CB vs. Blue

Everyone I know likes Blue much better than the rest- just in case
anyone is curious.

I worked in the ski industry for close to 12 years and I had a free pass to all the mountains here in NEPA. Blue is nice and it is in that central snow belt without question but Elk is the farthiest north and maintains its base deeper and longer than most mountains in NEPA. They also have less crowds due to the extra distance from the Philia area. Bearcreek and Blue both get buried in people on the weekends. Bearcreek has a great lodge with the feel of the larger resorts out west and hopefully Blue will get theirs updated but I still think that Elk is the best in NEPA for snow, crowds and conditions.

All of my friends love Elk Mountain, and I'll probably head there in late-2008 when I hope to start skiing. Happy New Year to you as well!

I'd agree that Elk is the best NEPA ski mountain. . . .
