Growing up in the Wyoming Valley, we had an ice cream truck come by the house from Charlie's Ice Cream. The business was a mom & pop type business out of West Pittston. I'm looking for a picture of one of their delivery trucks. If anyone can post one, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

What years did Charlie's Ice Cream operate? I also grew up on the west side of the Wyoming Valley and can remember back to the 50s, but can't remember this company.

I was born in '61 and can remember them from my adolescence. I would guess they closed up shop in the late '60s or early '70s.
Not only did they have their ice cream trucks, but you could walk up to the shop service window on South St. and buy ice cream there. If no one was in the shop, we would knock on the owners' house door on Erie St. BTW, best creamsicles I've ever had!

I grew up in West Pittston from the mid 70's and don't remember any ice cream trucks. I do remember the milk man coming around from Blue Ribbon and you could get a pint sized orange drink or a chocolate milk for a dime or something like that. He'd even give you one for free occasionally.

Ahhh, Blue Ribbon. About the only surviving milk bar that I can think of in that part of the valley. Grablick's (SP) being long-gone. Plus, Blue Ribbon is the only place I know of to get Teaberry ice cream. Yum!

The closing of Grablick's was a shame, I know of no other place anywhere that looked like that place. As I understand Hill Side Dairy is using their recipes.

Given the drift of the thread, it is worth mentioning Manning's Dairy Farm and their outlet stores. An NEPA gem that serves excellent ice cream and frozen (hard) yogurt, as well as milk and a few other items. It is very popular with the locals and worth a slight detour or even destination drive. Some stores have sit down tables, others people just grab and go with the goodies.

Well it hasn't drifted that much; Charlies, Blue ribbon and Grablicks were/are in West Pittston.

Uhuh...I ate a few Pig's Dinners at Grablick's, and there is still a Charlie's Ice Cream in Seaside Park.

I don't recall Grablick's having a "Pig's Dinner" type mega serving. The only "Pig's Dinner" I remember was at the Forty-Fort dairy bar/restaurant in Dallas (actually Trucksville). It was served in what looked like a miniature feeding trough.
