I thought this would be good to post for people who might want a grant to do some curbside appeal.
This offer is only good until December 7th for submission.
The Visitors Bureau is offering Beautification Grants to qualified groups that are interested in improving their areas curbside appeal. The maximum grant is $500.00
Qualified groups include chambers of commerce, civic clubs, community groups, youth groups, and other nonprofit organizations in Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties.
Do you know a group, or club that might use this grant. Please let them know.
The projects must be complete and grants spent by June 30, 2008.
Eleven were awarded last year. ( from $200 to $500)
It can be used for gateway enhancements, general landscaping, new and improved signage, new walkways, park benches, and litter cleanup.
So that is quite a few good causes it can go for.
For information, or application call the community relations directore at PMVB or email......

I think Saylorburg is a great place to live. Wonderful place in Pa.
Thanks for your reply.
When I see the word Grant, I light up.
This is money that is there ,just waiting for the community needs.
All for the small task of filling out a form.
I hope many take good use of the offer..............
Beautification is always a good thing........

$500 means a lot to a non-profit. I sent the info on to my local Lions Club, because they work to beautify common areas in our community. $500 can enable them to do more than they could have otherwise. Negative thinking brings negative waves!

Think Positive Scrantonluna........For 500 you could get a new bench, PLUS a few trees.
You could get someone to make you a new sign. Or repair an old one.
For 500 I could get topsoil for an entrance, and plant flowers, some shrubs.

Sometimes, it is something small that can go a long way.
