Hey Dorothy,
That is the old Galilee church. It is still for sale. It's been listed at 249K for a very long time. I've often wondered why they haven't dropped the price a little bit. Galilee is a very cute area that has a lot of artsy things going on. You can look at the house here:

One creepy thing about it is that there is a cemetery in the back yard. Have fun when you are looking. Let us know how it goes.

I know there is a church in the Moscow area for sale also. I came across it a few times when I was constantly looking at the listings.
Sounds like a neat thing to do if you have the money to renovate. I believe the one in Moscow has already had a start in renovations to making it a home.
Good Luck on the adventure!

If you are thinking of this one, I am familiar with the area--and it is on a dirt road just off Galilee 4-corners, aptly named: Church Street. Several folks are upgrading in the community. It is very rural, but quite attractive, and about 7m from the NYS line and Callicoon, NY (the closest shopping) and about 22m from Honesdale (on the back roads).

Yes, thats the very one. We debate constantly wheather we would like a vacation home that is ready to live in, or something rare and unusual.

Anyone else know of anything rare and unusual for sale?

Thanks so much
dorothy

There is a house in The Hideout for sale in the shape of a pyramid. It has been here for some time, with built in decks in the shape. It is selling for over $300,000. Not suggesting it, but it is really quite the thing to look at. There are also a few houses in The Hideout that must have been some builders special some time ago. They are called round houses, they are just a big circle...weird looking too.

I thought about buying one years ago that was priced very right and converting it into a house. Not a bad idea, with high ceilings you could build in a second floor w/balcony to the rear of the building, and use the front half as a huge great room with lots of natural lighting from stained glass windows. Think you could set the bells to play 'Smoke on the Water' at 1am?

I just suggested this property as a potential home to my wife, and she pointed out that it would bea great idea, but I shouldn't ever expect any intimate moments ever again if we lived in it, so that may be why it has been on the market for so long.

It seems the moderator removed the link on your reply about the church for sale. Please send me the link if you still have it. Thank you

Sincerely,
Reverend George
