All the rumors about infiltration of garbage people there are harkening to reality with this.

https://www.poconorecord.com/news/20...-monroe-county

A pizza guy was robbed trying to deliver there and was put in a choke hold while they took his money.

Does that mean that E. Stroudsburg is worse since they killed the pizza man: https://www.wfmz.com/news/poconos-co...ver/683639152?

I work with many people that live in PCP. Most have not had problems. I am not trying to claim that the development is perfect; we have seen many stories of crime coming from the development. It is a very large development and some areas are more crime prone than other areas. I just do not like to see us condemn all 5,000 + homes and thousands of residents because of the actions of a few.

I hear Ya, I work near Beech Mountain and know a few that live there and they are fine people. I'm also sure I'm stating the obvious to say that bad people and crime are everywhere and I am seeing a new influx all the time of bad element all over.

One striking difference for me though is that you buy into these "Secure" communities with the gate and the security personnel but you can't stop who is buying in.

Agreed! I remember when Sarge used to post about PCP.(Where are ya, man?) He surmised that it has been getting bad press. I am sure that PCP has their share but no more than any other community. I know in Tamiment, The head of security in our community fled a scene of an accident.https://www.poconorecord.com/news/20...le-in-tamiment However, no follow up was made of the story and I ran across him wearing a security uniform for another community. Other things have happened in Tamiment since then and it doesn't get any coverage. News/propaganda can be slanted in any direction.

I really do not know if the claims by Sarge were correct? It is very possible. What I do know is that we have no real news for our area anymore. We are lucky to see one or two stories every day about crime, fires, local township and county political decisions, or what is being done on our aging infrastructure. Chances are that the local newspaper is dead/dying, local TV does not have the funding to do in depth reporting.

I just wished that somebody would offer an online alternative for real, local, news. It would be great if they had their own reporters. But even if they were just good at collecting police/fire/ and political news; it would still beat what we currently have. I know they teach journalism at NCC; I would really like to see them take it one step further.

The area started going downhill once the West End got built up towards the end of the 80’s

It seems that way but like I said previously. News could be slanted anyway possible. In Bushkill, Tamiment in particular, there are always problems. These communities are a breeding ground for corruption and cronyism. You could go to any of the board meetings. State your case that makes perfect sense. Then get lampooned at the meeting. Making the whole experience feel like a total waste of time. That's why many good citizens of these communities don't get involved. That includes my family. We are just plotting our exit strategy. Which is fine by these "esteemed" board members. In Tamiment, they make money off of the transfer fees when you sell or leave. You should see them. When I went to a meeting one time, they went into a shark frenzy seeing blood at the mentioned of someone selling their home.

I work with many people that live in PCP and all have been good to me. It is a very large development with, if I recall correctly, 6,000 to 7,000, houses. Any community that size will have some problems. Should I condemn all because of a few? Keep in mind that I have personally not known any bad ones. I would not want to live there; but I do not want to live in any development. I like the idea of no dues. My property is surrounded by developments; but I do not belong to any and I like it like that!

reminds me of the poster on here who was originally from a small town in nepa and would defend scranton and say how great it was... and it is so great that he moved to pittsburgh and out of nepa the second he got the chance and came up with phony reasons why.

i especially love when tourists who visit an area to go shopping for a day or whatever think they're suddenly the experts of a city and tell the residents that live there day to day how they're wrong and don't know what they're talking about.
Did you read what I said? I don't like developments. Why would I want to move to any of them when I don't live in a development now? I like my five acres!

I like the people I work with that do live there. I have no personal complaints. But, like I stated, it is a large development and I know they also have their problems.

We did have one poster that loved his new home in PCP. He hasn't posted for some time; but he did have good points along the same line I am taking about the development. When my wife was alive we used to go to many yard sales in the development and never had any problems. One of my wife's friends lived there and they liked it; but did not like the depreciation of their home for living there. Recently we have not heard as many bad reports as we used to hear; but then we do not have the news we used to have.
